Call for applications for membership of the newly formed EANO Brain Tumour Advocacy Committee (BTAC)
We’re delighted to announce that applications for the newly formed Brain Tumour Advocacy Committee (BTAC) are now open. EANO strongly recognises that patient and caregiver engagement is vital in order to understand the perspectives, challenges, and expectations of those diagnosed with a brain tumour, and their families. Therefore, EANO has recently, established the Brain Tumour Advocacy Committee (BTAC) to act as a representative group within EANO which can inform and interact with the Society from the point of view of patients and caregivers. To aim for a culture relying on shared knowledge, values and collaboration, the BTAC will create a forum for reflection, inspiration, new initiatives, and ideas that contribute to patient and caregiver perspectives and experiences for the improved development and design of the committees and activities of EANO.
EANO’s BTAC is looking for members who will start their engagement with a first meeting in June 2025. Over time, the BTAC will consist of 7 to 8 members, all of whom have had experience living with a brain tumour, either as a patient or as a current or former caregiver. The BTAC will meet four times a year and in addition, BTAC members will be invited to participate as co-opted members in other EANO Committee meetings and/or projects. Applicants must be able to represent the community of people living with a brain tumour. They do not have to be a member of a patient organisation, although this is desirable. Diversity regarding brain tumour diagnosis, time since diagnosis, age, gender, and country of residence will be encouraged. The term for members of the BTAC is two years, with the option to be re-elected for a further two years. All applicants will be members of EANO, with residency in Europe. The members of the BTAC can be offered guidance in patient and public involvement and engagement in medical associations.
